Another Victim of Dangerous Driving


A fatal collision in the western suburbs of Truganina has claimed the life of a ten-year-old girl due to dangerous driving.

The second child, a four-year-old boy taken to Royal Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries died.

The crash occurred at midnight on Sunday when the driver of the Ford Territory travelling on Hopkins Road overtook the Honda SUV and collided head on with the Ford Focus travelling from opposite direction. The Territory then slammed into the Honda SUV.

Among the four passengers in the Ford Focus, the women remains in a critical condition, while the male passenger suffered serious injuries but has seen been released from hospital.

The 41-year old driver and sole occupant of the Ford Territory from Rockbank was taken to Alfred Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Five passengers of the Honda SUV were injured.

Investigation is underway. “Obviously we will be looking at factors including speed and alcohol but at this stage, we have been unable to speak to the driver involved in the collision,” Detective Sergeant Colin Schmidt told Channel Nine.
